What is a Bongo Flasher?

A Bongo Flasher is a flashing pin that can be put or worn pretty much anywhere.

There are several different styles of flashing pins, here are some examples:

The first kind uses two powerful magnets, one inside the pin, and one outside, so you can place the pin anywhere on your clothing, ear lobe, etc.

Another kind is the butterfly clasp style, similar to a tie tack, and can be placed
anywhere that is appropriate for a small hole to be made, such as in clothing, or a back pack or purse.

There is a clasp pin style, where you push the pin through your clothing, etc, and then you swing the pin shut and lock it into place, such as with a broach pin. Usually this style of pin has a button to activate the flashing lights, instead of having to manually turn the
backing clockwise.

And lastly, there is the necklace style, which usually doubles as one of the other types mentioned. These have a loop with a lanyard necklace on it, so it can be worn around the neck, or hung from an object, like a hook, or rear view mirror, etc. The necklace style is great, because if the person buying the pin doesn't like the lanyard, it can easily be removed, and still retain the other method of wearing the pin, usually the magnets style.

How do I turn the pins on or off?

Most pins can be turned on by orienting the pin so you are facing the backing of the pin, and rotating the screw in battery cover clockwise.

It can be turned off by rotating counter-clockwise 1/8th to 1/4th of a turn.

Some styles use a push button, that is located somewhere on the back of the pin, and pressing the button alternately turns the pin on and off.

How do I get the pin to work?  It won't turn on...

Some pins have a feature from the factory that prevents the battery from becoming
discharged during transit.

One style has a tab that sticks out from the rear battery housing, and if the battery cover is rotated counter-clockwise slightly, the tab can then be removed by simply pulling it out. Then the pin can be activated normally.

Another style has a plastic ring that is wrapped around the batteries during assembly.
This can be removed by completely unscrewing the battery cover on the back of the flasher,
then removing the batteries and the magnet (if so equipped). The plastic ring should come
out with the batteries, if it does not, then it can simply be pulled out of the battery
cover. Then you can reassemble the pin by taking the battery cover, and first inserting
the magnet (if so equipped), followed by the two batteries, flat side towards the inside of
the battery cover, and finish by screwing the cover back into the pin.

How long do the batteries last?

Typically, the batteries will last for 10-12 hours of continuous usage, and then will continue to operate at a diminished level for several hours thereafter. Of course if the flasher is left turned off, or is only operated for short lengths of time, the battery life is substantially longer.

What can I use these Bongo Flashers for?

These pins are great for many different things! They make great gifs, stocking stuffers, party favors, decor, and pretty much anything else you can imagine! They are great for retail, and sell extremely well, with a very decent markup.
